Privacy Policy

This policy explains what San Carlos Residents Directory receives, how that limited information is used, and the choices available to a visitor. The reference pages do not require an account and do not host San Carlos government records. Search forms may pass what is entered to the third-party provider that supplies the results.

Data You Submit

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that powers that result. San Carlos Residents Directory does not keep a copy of the search terms on its own servers. If a visitor writes to the operators, the message and any details included in it are received so a reply can be made.

Automatic Log Information

Hosting systems may record ordinary technical logs, including IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. These details are reviewed in aggregate to maintain the service and understand general page use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.

How Collected Data Is Used

Information is used to operate the reference, diagnose faults, measure broad traffic, answer messages, and improve pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from the reference site's limited logs.

Links to Other Services

The pages link to San Mateo County and California records portals, local libraries, archives, and third-party search tools. Data submitted on an outside service is controlled by that service's privacy policy. Sponsored result forms are also supplied by a third party, and their handling of an entry is not governed by this policy.

Who May Receive Information

Hosting and technical providers may process ordinary server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise is not provided as a visitor list.

Security and Retention

The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. There are no user accounts on the reference pages, so the site does not maintain a password or personal profile that could be exposed through an account breach.

Visitors Under 18

The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. San Carlos Residents Directory does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor is believed to have sent information, contact the operators so it can be located and deleted where possible.

California Privacy Rights

California's Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following, can provide rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale or sharing of personal information, subject to its definitions and exceptions. The deletion right is addressed in section 1798.105 and the sale or sharing opt-out in section 1798.120. The Delete Act, Civil Code sections 1798.99.80 through 1798.99.89, supplies the DROP route for registered data brokers.

Because the reference keeps very little, a request normally means searching a contact mailbox and relevant server logs, then removing information that can be identified. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by California, San Mateo County, or San Carlos offices are outside the operators' control; a removal, correction, sealing, or redaction request for those records must go to the custodian.

Changes to This Policy
